Obituary for John Edward Griffiths
LIFE STORY PREPARED BY THE FAMILY: John Edward Griffiths, son of the late George D. Griffiths and Georgia Plotczyk (Hoffman) was born in Baltimore on January 3, 1931 and passed away on January 29, 2022. He was 91 years of age.
John was a member of the United States Army and served during the Korean War. On August 19, 1951, he married Naomi Ruth Cutlip. Together, they were the parents of five children, three sons and two daughters. They lived in Baltimore until 1967 when they moved their family to a small farm in Harford County. John enjoyed country living. He was a hardworking man, whose joy it was taking care of his beloved Naomi and family. He cared deeply for his friends and neighbors.
He is survived by his wife, Naomi, children and their spouses; Karen (Jeffrey) Sizemore, Susan (Paul) Peyto, Robert Griffiths and James (Tiffany) Griffiths. Left to cherish his memory are his grandchildren; Kathleen (Tim) MacLaughlin, Samuel Sizemore, Joseph Sizemore, Ryan and George Griffiths. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren; Thomas, Benjamin and Rebecca MacLaughlin.
John was preceded in death by a son, Michael John Griffiths, a brother, James Griffiths and a sister, Dorothy Eckert.
John once wrote:
“Jesus so loved us one and all
He gave his life and took the fall
He gave his life for you and me
He took our sins so we would be free
All we have to do each day
Is say, Thank you Jesus! while we pray”
