Obituary for John Philip Wever

John Philip Wever, age 85 years of Delta, PA died at his home at 4:49 a.m. on Monday, September 28, 2020. He was the devoted, loving husband of Patricia M. (Neely) Wever and together they celebrated 64 years of marriage on January 30, 2020.

Mr. Wever was born in Baltimore, MD on December 14, 1934 a son of the late John Albert and Mary (Kusick) Wever. He grew up and attended school in Baltimore graduating from Kenwood High School. He later went on to achieve his bachelor’s degree from the University of Baltimore. Serving with the 104th Fighter Interceptor Squadron of the Air National Guard of Maryland and the Reserve of the United States Air Force, he was honorably discharged in August, 1955. Mr. Wever held a private pilot’s license and enjoyed his time above the clouds. In 1957 he became a Maryland State Police Trooper and served until he decided to pursue another career after starting a family. His love of the outdoors led him to work in the construction trade until he retired at age 50 to pursue his life long dream of becoming a BBQ aficionado and health guru. Mr. Wever loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and working on his farm. Mr. and Mrs. Wever moved to Delta in 1964.

Jacqueline Rosenbalm of Yellville, AR
Joel C. Wever, Sr. of Delta, PA
Jeannette L. Rugemer and her husband, Steven of Delta, PA
Jeffrey S. Wever and his wife, Shannon of Delta, PA

Mr. Wever is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his six siblings.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, October 4 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main St., Delta, PA.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Monday, October 5 beginning at 10 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 1021 St. Mary’s Rd., Pylesville, MD 21132

Reverend A. Henry Kunkel, III will be the celebrant.

Interment will be in Parkwood Cemetery, Baltimore.
