Obituary for Kenneth Arthur Myers
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, June 19th at 11 a.m. in Slate Ridge Presbyterian Church, 1630 Chestnut Street, Cardiff, MD. Kenneth Arthur Myers, 82, of Street, MD, passed away on January 14, 2021 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born on February 14, 1938 to the late Delmer and Catherine (Snyder) Myers in Delta, PA. He graduated from Kennard Dale High School in 1956 and served in the U.S. Army Reserves.
He was married to the former Joyce Wallace in 1958 and took over her family’s Hilldale Dairy Farm, later switching to beef. He retired from the Bel Air Post Office with over 30 years of service where he was highly respected by his peers and the patrons as well. He remained a farmer his entire life.
He was a life member of the Delta-Cardiff Fire Company and member of Slate Ridge Presbyterian Church for over 60 years where he was an elder and had served as a trustee. He was also a member of the Esdraelon Masonic Lodge #176 of Cardiff, MD.
Ken will surely be missed by many, but will be remembered for his utmost integrity, always a gentleman, and although quiet-spoken, his family and others listened when he spoke. He enjoyed traveling; he had visited all 50 states, 7 European countries, and numerous places on their many cruises, with Alaska being his favorite.
Besides his wife, Joyce with whom he celebrated 62 years of marriage on December 27th, he is survived by 4 children: Luianne M. Potter and husband Jeffrey, daughters Amanda Fisher (Steven), Andrea Schmitt (Zach); Lisa M. Jackson and husband David, son Evan Schrodel (Charla) and daughter Emily Heiges (Cory); Kenneth A. Myers, Jr. and wife Donna, daughters Jennifer Searle (Travis) and Morgan Streavig (Justin); Keith T. Myers and wife Shannon, daughters Jessica Glock (Matthew) and Kathryn Moore (Travis) and son Greyson Watts.
He was blessed to have 13 great-grandchildren: Andrew and Nora Fisher, Drake and Paige Schmitt, Abygail, Adelyn, Annabelle, and Allison Schrodel, Waylon and Ryleigh Searle, and Bentley, Landon, and Ethan Glock, and the 14th, a great-granddaughter to be born in April.
He is also survived by his brother James W. Myers and wife Helen, sisters Beverly Martin and Barbara Kunkle, sister-in law Ruth Myers, many special nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by grandsons Andrew Potter and Matthew Wachter, sister Isabel McLaughlin and husband Ralph, brother Donald L. Myers and brothers-in-law Ronald Martin and Jerry Kunkle
