Obituary for Kwanisa Brittney Saline Mahon

Life story prepared by her family - Our beloved Kwanisa Brittney Saline Mahon of Grenada, St. Andrews and Darlington, Maryland, was gently and peacefully taken home to be with her heavenly father, our Lord and Savior, on November 24, 2021. She was born on April 22, 1994, in beauty and long-lasting anticipation. Shortly thereafter, she immigrated to the United States with her family.

She is survived by her parents, Edwin and Velta Mahon; and siblings Lisa, Lovon, Keron, and Vondel. Kwani was loving nicknamed, Aunt Tia by her nieces and nephews; Marcus, Rondel, Melissa, Kristian, Nathan, Amelia, Ezra, Dresden, and Avalin.

She was her mother’s prayer and the apple of her father’s eye. On bended knees, hand-in-hand her family prayed for her to exist. God answered and gave his gift, Kwanisa Mahon, our miracle child. Her family sang songs for her to hear before she had ears, and felt her love before she existed. Her mother and father delivered her together. She was greeted by her father’s hands.

Kwani loved her family more than anything. She was the youngest, at 27, but in spirit and love she was also a big sister. Her heart was full of love and happiness that was influenced by her close-knit family who cherished her so deeply. Her nieces and nephews adored her and could never resist one of Aunt Tia’s big hugs. She was a pure soul.

For those who were friends, nothing was too little or too big for Kwani to do for anyone. Even if you met her for just one moment in time, her infectious spirit would leave your heart and soul smiling. She overflowed with love and would generously pour it out on anyone needing it. A simple smile or sound of her voice would blow away all the dark clouds hovering over your worst day. She was like the sunshine; always bright, always smiling, always sharing God’s love with others. She touched the hearts of her friends. They were one of the biggest parts of her life, and she loved them dearly.

Always encouraging, inspiring, and uplifting others, Kwani was able to use these talents at Cornerstone Baptist Church where she was a long-time member. At Cornerstone she served in children’s church and was active in the youth group. Her laughter was, sweet, endearing and contagious; she was always able to get people to laugh; it was her special way to make everyone feel wonderful when they were around her. She was a person who was courageous and fearless enough to be honest, loving and true to herself; she was beautiful inside and out from birth and surrounded by love.

She had interest in learning languages. She was actively learning Japanese and fluent in Spanish from early age. She decided to use this passion to become a teacher.

Kwani worked as a devoted caregiver who acted tirelessly for the well-being of her patient. She had many hobbies including knitting, designing and making craft soaps, perfumes, and other health and beauty products. She was an inspiring young artist who loved to draw and paint. She loved reading, anime, unicorns, and especially her pet Froggie, the frog. She liked her plants and was kind to the earth.

She loved finding funny memes and sending them to family and friends to brighten their day; some of her favorites were dad jokes. She loved cooking with her mother and video gaming with her brothers.

She will be missed, most of all she will be missed be her family. She was their glue and happiness. Her infectious smile, her caring and loving ways, her hugs, her pure and sweet little, yet big, heart….. She will forever remain treasured, beloved and honored. She was God’s blessing and gift. We are thankful that God chose her for us and we were allowed to love her and experience her love. Thank you Kwani for visiting us here on earth for those 27 years. We love you and cannot wait to see you again.
