Obituary for Larry Dale Robinson

Obituary written by his family-
Larry Dale Robinson of Delta, Pennsylvania, child of God, lifelong dairy farmer and community friend, went to be with his Savior, January 2, 2022 at age 65. Larry was born in York County Pennsylvania to the late Dale and Ruth (Miller) Robinson on November 5th 1956. Larry was the loving husband of Denise (Williamson) Robinson of Miller’s Island, Maryland, sharing 37 wonderful years of marriage. He leaves three daughters, Jessicya Hughes and her husband John; Emily Winters and her husband Pete; Amanda Thomas and her husband John; a son, Nathanial Robinson and his wife Taylor; four grandchildren Ava, Ensley, Ivy and John “Hugh”; one brother Albert Robinson and his wife Sharon and daughter Devin and six other nieces and two nephews.

Larry attended Kennard Dale High School where he participated as a proud and outstanding member of the FFA. His freshman year he received the “Dairy Chain Calf” award. He served as a chapter officer and participated on the Parliamentary Procedure team as Sentinel. Their team went to county, district and state competitions winning second in the state. During his youth through adulthood, he enjoyed raising and showing Holstein dairy cattle and Landrace and Spot swine at surrounding fairs and shows, carrying on the tradition to his children and grandchildren.

Larry’s love and appreciation for agriculture was shown through the farming of his family-owned land of 95 years, along with neighboring properties. He was the owner of Robinson Roasters for over 25 years cooking pigs and making bbq for Fawn Grove Old Tyme Days, York Country BBQ Festival, Delta Cardiff Volunteer Fire Company, Delta Heritage Festival, Delta Lumber and numerous family occasions. Larry was one of the original founders of the Mason Dixon Fair Association acting as superintendent of the Swine Department. He was influential in numerous other civic groups including Young Farmers Association, Pork Producers Association, a leader in Airville 4-H community club and a lifelong member and trustee of Slateville Presbyterian Church.

Larry’s hobbies included maintaining a small family orchard and garden, assisting his wife in picking and cutting fruit for her canning business, hunting deer and small game, trout fishing, acting as an unofficial community veterinarian, ice-skating and playing pond hockey where he met his wife, In addition, he enjoyed going to farm and mud sales such as Roots; always looking for the best deals and volunteering his time to help his community. Most recently, he has enjoyed taking adventurous trips with his wife. Larry was known to his family and friends by his down-to-earth, fun loving and humorous personality.

Services will be held at Slateville Presbyterian Church, 308 Slateville Road, Delta, PA with a viewing from 2 – 5 p.m. on Sunday, the 9th and funeral services on Monday at 1:30 p.m. with his pastor, Reverend Kenneth Osborne officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. Larry will be carried to his final resting place by his son’s Nathanial’s John Deere Tractor and flat bed wagon.
