Obituary for Laura E. Miller
LAURA E. MILLER, of Airville, formerly of Delta, PA, passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at Promedica South in York, PA. Born on July 9, 1920 she was one of the very few to experience life for over a century, having celebrated her 102nd birthday this past summer. Laura was the only daughter in a family of seven children born to the late James Burk and Lola (Lee) Burk. Laura was a graduate of Fulton High School of Lancaster County and was a devoted wife for 63 years of the late Arthur R. Miller who died in 2006.
A homemaker, Laura was very happy in her home, canning, gardening, cooking, loved flowers and keeping the home beautiful. She was a faithful attendee of Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church where she could always be found working in the kitchen for dinners and events. After her husband passed, she spent many hours enjoying the company of the late Hilda Brown. Her soft spirit and kind heart will be missed.
She is survived by her loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers: Edward Burk, Sr., Clyde Burk, Russell Burk, Marshall Burk, Clarence Burk and Louis Burk.
Services will be held on Monday, October 17, 2022 at Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church, 962 Flintville Road, Delta, PA 17314 with a viewing from 12:30 – 1:30 followed immediately with the funeral service. Her minister, Pastor Donald Rowe of The Peach Bottom Charge will officiate with interment in the adjoining church cemetery next to her loving husband.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church at the above address.
