Obituary for Maggie Lee Harrison

Maggie Lee Harrison, 91, of Street, MD, died at Stella Maris Hospice Center in Timonium, MD on Monday, September 26, 2022. Maggie was born in Frankford, WV, to her late parents Samuel Boyd Marrs and Maryland Virginia (Mitchell) Marrs. She was married to the late Joe Beavers Harrison who died in September of 2003.

Maggie’s mission in life was taking care of people, which most often meant feeding them. Friends and family enjoyed her homemade rolls, fried chicken, pies, cakes and so many other dishes. Cooking for church dinners, bake sales, and the homeless was important to her. Preserving food from her husband’s large gardens, fruit trees, hunting, crabbing, and fishing trips, meant full freezers and hundreds of full canning jars. She and her husband traveled extensively within the United States; trips were often planned so he could check out a new trout stream. While Maggie will be missed, we are comforted by thousands of fond memories of this good woman.

Maggie is survived by her four children: Jo Ann Day, of Street, MD, Robert Harrison and wife Marcia Ciol., of Anderson Island, WA, Brenda Harrison and Bronda Harrison, both of Ocala, FL. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Christi Day, William Day Jr., Robert Day II, Julie Day Tittel, Joseph Harrison, Joanna Harrison and Tony Mastradone. In addition, she is survived by eight great-grandchildren, with her first great-great-grandchild due within weeks. One sister, Virginia Wise of Delta, PA and one brother, John Marrs of Pylesville, MD are left to cherish lifelong memories. Her niece, Tammy Teague, held a special place in her heart.

In addition to her husband and parents, Maggie was predeceased by her brother Bill Marrs, sister Sylvia Johnson, best friend Verda Volz, and son-in-law Bill Day
