Obituary for Marguerite A. McMillan (Jones)

Marguerite A. McMillan, age 94 years of Havre de Grace, MD and formerly of Darlington, MD, died on Thursday, May 13, 2021, at the Harford Memorial Hospital in Havre de Grace. She was the wife of Teddy Gale McMillan, who died in 1991.

Mrs. McMillan was born in Whiteford, MD, on October 15, 1926, a daughter of the late Ralph B. and Carrie T. (Tarbert) Jones. She was a 1942 graduate of the former Delta High School and spent her entire career in the cosmetology field. From the early 1960s until the mid-1970s, Marguerite taught cosmetology in Parkville, MD, at the Marc Beauty School before accepting a teaching position at Roberts Beauty School in Aberdeen, at which she remained until the late 1970s. From 1978 until 1985, Marguerite owned and operated the International School of Cosmetology in Havre de Grace, and from 1985 until 1989, she owned and operated International Hair Design, also in Havre de Grace. In 1989 she returned to teaching at the Ron Thomas Beauty Schools until 1992, and from then until 1994, she taught at the International Beauty School in Bel Air, MD. Marguerite continued teaching and practicing cosmetology well into her 80’s and eventually retired from Sally’s Beauty Salon in Perryville.

Marguerite was a longtime member of the former House of Glory Christian Church in Street, MD, then transferred her membership to The Encouraged Church in Bel Air, MD.

Her brother: Edward L. Jones of Delta, PA

Also, 18 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her sons, Robert A. Singleton, Jr, and Richard A. Singleton, Sr., grandsons Robert Singleton, III and Roy Lynn Butcher, great-grandsons Christian Butcher and Jacob Butcher; her brother, Howard Jones, and her sister, Dorothy Greenly

A viewing will be held on Sunday evening, May 16, from 6 to 8 pm at the Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main St., Delta, PA.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 17, beginning at 11 am, also at the funeral home with Pastor Glenn R. Ewart of The Encouraged Church officiating.

Interment will be in Slate Ridge Cemetery, Delta, PA.
