Obituary for Nancy M. Knopp

NANCY M. KNOPP, 76 died on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 in Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, Bel Air, MD. She was the beloved wife for 22 years of the late James H. Knopp, Sr. who died on September 27, 1987.

A lifetime resident of Jarrettsville, actually the same road, Nancy was born on April 16, 1947 in the former Fountain Green Hospital of Bel Air, MD to her late parents, John Walter Mulligan and Geneva M. (Adams) Mulligan. While raising her three sons, she was a den mother for their cub scout pack and loved caring for the family home, Nancy worked as a retail technician for 20 years with the Walmart-Abingdon, MD location. A perfect occupation for Nancy since she never had trouble making new friends and was kind and caring to all she met. Nancy was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary with the Jarrettsville Manor Memorial Post #8672 VFW.

A family oriented lady, Nancy had a strong belief in Jesus Christ and was a longtime member of North Harford Baptist Church where she worked in the social outreach program and numerous other activities. True to her willingness to help others, she was a teacher’s aide at the John Archer School as well as volunteering at Sandy Cove Christian Retreat Center. Her family remarked that she was a wonderful mother, precious nana, her heart was kind and her hugs and smiles were contagious.

Nancy is survived by:
Her three sons: James Knopp, Jr., (Kelly) of Port Deposit, MD; John Knopp (Lithia) of Jarrettsville and Jeremy Knopp (Rebecca) also of Jarrettsville. A brother, Charles R. Mulligan of Bel Air, MD. Nancy just adored her six grandchildren: Jakob and Kaleb Knopp; Heather Ryan; Liam Foley; Katelyn and Kristen Hammaker as well as her two precious twin great grandsons: Mathew and Parker Vincent.

Services will be held in her church, North Harford Baptist Church, 4008 Old Federal Hill Road, Jarrettsville, MD with a viewing on Monday from 5-8 p.m. followed with the funeral service on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at 11 a.m. Her minister, Pastor Matt Fortunato will officiate. Nancy will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband in William Watters Cemetery, Jarrettsville.
