Pearl Leona (Comer) Sturgis, beloved mother/Nana/sister/friend and daughter of Christ went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 12, 2023. She was 82 years old and was born September 29, 1940 to the late Marion and Clara Comer. Pearl was the middle child of 11 children born to this marriage. "Nana" (pronounced "Nah-Nah") as everyone knew her, leaves behind four children: Rebecca Harrington (Donald) of Brogue, James Sturgis Jr (Lawanda) of Red Lion, Donna Lecrone of Dallastown, Barbara Weaver (Miles) of Delta; 10 grandchildren: Jaimee Sturgis, Amanda Stikeleather (Shaun), Donald Harrington Jr (Alicia), Amber Weaver, Nicole Weaver, Jason May, Courtney Roop (Daniel), Elaina Coeyman, Deborah Sturgis and 13 great grandchildren. Also left to mourn the loss are 5 siblings: Anna Belle Daughton, Breece Comer, Barbara Smith, Robert Comer and Pauline Testerman. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Sturgis Sr., a grandson, Thomas Jenkins and 5 of her siblings.
Nana Pearl was one of a kind, often described as strong willed by those who knew her best. She was an avid writer and wrote hundreds of poems and songs. She loved her family, her country and Jesus fiercely as is evidenced by all of the photos and decor all over the walls of her home. She was a longtime member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Brogue. She made a huge impact on the world and will be greatly missed.
Services will be held on Friday, March 17th at Tabernacle Regular Baptist Church, 26 Chanceford Road, Brogue, PA with a visitation with her family from 10:15 – 11:15 followed immediately with the funeral service. Pastor John Waltermyer and Deacon Brad Waltermyer will co-officiate. Interment will be held in Bel Air Memorial Gardens, 809 Rock Spring Road, Bel Air, MD after the service.
Her family would appreciate memorial contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516. Harkins Funeral Home, Delta, Pennsylvania has been entrusted with her arrangements.
