Obituary for Philip Geoffrey Nicholson Sr.

LIFE STORY PREPARED BY HIS LOVING FAMILY: Philip Geoffrey Nicholson, Sr., 77, of Delta, PA, passed peacefully into the arms of his Savior on Thursday, November 17, 2022 surrounded by his family. Phil was born in Baltimore, MD on July 25, 1945 to the late Frank and Shirley Nicholson. While he may no longer be here on this earth with us, his legacy and memory will live on in the hearts of everyone that knew and loved him.

Phil, as he was known to the community, was never short on hard work. After retiring from 33 years at Eastern Stainless Steel and 19 years at Domino Sugar, Phil continued to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. In fact, it was common knowledge within his family that “If Pop couldn’t fix it, throw it away.” Phil loved hunting and fishing, especially with his close friends Rich Myers and John Wilkins. He was a long-time, proud member of the Mt. Ararat Masonic Lodge, member of Friendship Lodge No. 663, an ambassador of the Boumi Shriners, and a past president of the Boumi gun club.

Phil is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Janet; children Bryan Nicholson of Shelter Island, NY, Terri Bracey and husband Alvin of Delta, PA, Dr. Geoff Nicholson and wife Debbie of York, PA; grandchildren: Stephanie and Pastor Brandon Boyd, Victor and Samantha Bracey, Emily Nicholson, Leah Bracey, Michael Bracey, Sophia Nicholson and Bryce Nicholson; great grandchildren: Hopelyn, Annalee, and Emmeline Boyd, Rowan and Oliver Bracey, Teslyn Ludwig and Landyn Heagy. He is also survived by his brother Dr. Bruce Nicholson and sister-in-law Gerry, and sister- and brother-in-law Beverly and Roger Hannah and family.

Phil was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Shirley Nicholson and niece, Sarah Hurst.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2022 from 10 until 11 am at Slate Ridge Presbyterian Church, 1630 Chestnut Street, Whiteford, MD 21160. A Memorial Service will be held beginning at 11 am at the church with Reverend Kenneth Osborne and Pastor Brandon Boyd co-officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Phil’s name can be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, Pa. 3551 N. Broad St. Philadelphia, Pa 19140.

Harkins Funeral Home, Inc., of Delta, PA has been entrusted with arrangements.
