Obituary for Robert Hatoff, Sr.

Life story was prepared by his family -
ROBERT HATOFF, SR., 85 of Baltimore, MD, went to be with the Lord from his daughter’s home in New Park, PA on Friday, December 10, 2021. He was the beloved husband for 53 years of Janice Sheridan Seabrease Hatoff who died on February 9, 2012.

Born on August 9, 1936 in Brooklyn, NY, he was a son of the late Samuel Barton Hatoff and Naomi Rueben Hatoff and moved to Baltimore as a young child with his family. He had attended Baltimore Polytechnic High School and enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served in the Philippines during the Korean War.

Robert began his service to Baltimore City as a Firefighter working from numerous fire stations throughout the City of Baltimore, then promoted to Lieutenant in Baltimore City Fire Prevention. While there, he played “Sparky” the fire dog in parades and schools to educate children in fire prevention.

Robert was promoted to Captain in Fire Investigation where he served the remainder of his distinguished career as FIB 5. He was known to help all new firefighters learn the ropes so to speak as well as new investigators.

Robert was a lifetime member of Hamilton Presbyterian Church in Baltimore where he faithfully worshipped. He was active in church activities and had served as an elder. Family was the center of his life. He was active in Hamilton Little League where he served as an umpire, coach and president for several years. He was a past president of the PTA and was involved with three generations of family events. He had a remarkable sense of humor and just loved to watch The Three Stooges. His kind spirit will be missed by many.

Robert Hatoff, Jr.; Debra Susan DiCarlo; Anita Janice Hatoff and her wife, Laura Hatoff-Thisse.

Two sisters-Barbara King and Doreen Gantz

Eight grandchildren-Nancy Schneider and her husband, Henry; Anthony DiCarlo; Gina DiCarlo; Joseph DiCarlo; Anita DiCarlo’ Samuel Hatoff; James Thisse; John Thisse and his wife, Brianna.

Seven great grandchildren-
Sophia DiCarlo; Jesse Thisse; Henry Schneider, IV; Jayden Thisse; John Thomas (JT) Thisse; Nailea DiCarlo; Waylon Thisse

He was preceded in death by two sisters-Shirley Hatoff and Linda Schroeder.

Viewings will be held on Thursday, Dec. 16th from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Hamilton Presbyterian Church, 5532 Harford Rd., Baltimore, MD where the funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec 17. Elder Sherry Vojcek of Gatchelville Community of Christ Church will officiate.

Interment with military honors and fire department honors will follow in Gardens of Faith, 5598 Trumps Mill Rd., Baltimore, MD.
