Obituary for Robert Henry Beattie
ROBERT HENRY BEATTIE, 88 of Mechanicsville, MD, passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2021 in Washington Hospital Center, Washington, DC. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary Elizabeth (Sartin) Beattie who died in 1994.
Born on April 28, 1932 in Whiteford, MD, he was a son of the late William James and Catherine Zeta (McGreevy) Beattie, Sr. and a graduate of the former Slate Ridge High School in Cardiff, MD. He served with the US Army military police from January 1953 – January 1955. Robert continued his education for three years at the Baltimore Technical Institute and had worked as a tv/radio repair man. In retirement, he moved to Mechanicsville to live with his daughter to help raise his grandsons. Family and faith were very important to his life.
He is survived by:
A daughter, Mary Susan Bucci and her husband, Bret of Mechanicsville, MD
Two grandsons-
Bret William Bucci, Jr. and his wife, Trish of Laurel, DE
Michael Robert Bucci of LaPlata, MD
A great grandson, Bret William Bucci, III of Laurel, DE
Three siblings-
William James Beattie, Jr. and his wife, Alice of Newark, DE
Marian Coleman and her husband, Edward of Lancaster, PA
Georgiana Donlin of Whiteford, MD
Loving nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Beattie and great niece, Caitlin Renee Rives.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, services will be private for his family; a memorial service will be held at a future date. His family would appreciate memorial contributions to Special Olympics Maryland, 3701 Commerce Drive #103, Baltimore, MD 21227.
