ROBERT S. HEAPS, 84 of Delta, PA, died on Monday, May 31, 2021 in Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD accompanied by his cousin at his bedside, Walter R. Spence, Sr., of Newark, DE. Bobby as he was known was born on August 22, 1936 in Delta. He enjoyed telling people that his Pop Pop Wilton Heaps operated a steam powered crane at the former Green Marble Quarry in Cardiff, MD where green marble and rose marble were mined as well as slate. Many beautiful marble items adorn various homes and businesses as well as precision cut slate on many of the rooftops.
Bobby began his work career for the former Bata Show Company, canning houses and the Peach Bottom Nuclear Power Plant in Delta. In addition, he had a 50-year career with the American Legion Post #182 in Whiteford, MD, retiring in 2003 as club manager. Bobby enjoyed attending bull roasts and crab feasts where he enjoyed the company of his old friends. Bobby’s love for cars and trucks over the years led to many awards at car shows.

His longtime companion, Judy Morris of Susquehanna Trails, Delta, PA
His cousin, Walter who kept a close contact for many years.
His two best friends that were like brothers to him: Dennis Henry and Bob Johnson
He was preceded in death by:
His mother, Mildred Elizabeth (Heaps) Williams and father, Jo-e Williams
His brothers: Marvin and Ronald – Ronnie was tragically killed at the age of 10 in a traffic accident while riding in his parents car; unfortunately, this tragic event left both of his parents with lifelong disabilities.
His grandparents: Wilton and Laura (Blackburn) Heaps.
An inurnment will be private.
A time of gathering will be held from 4 - 6 p.m. to reflect on Bobby's life at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, PA on Thursday, June 17th. There will not be a formal speaker, just a time to share stories and remembrances.
