Obituary for Rosie Mae Griffith (Dixon)
Rosie Mae Griffith, 71, of Pylesville, MD died on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at her home. Rosie was born in Mt. Airy, NC, to her late parents, Roy Andy and Annie Carrie (Lowe) Dixon. She married her late husband Thomas Griffith, Sr., on March 15, 1967 and they shared 36 years of marriage until his death in 2003.
Rosie served children as a dedicated foster parent for over 15 years and later in life as a transportation assistant for the Harford County Public Schools. She was a loving, kind, giving and selfless person who enjoyed sewing and quilting. She even made wedding dresses for several of her daughters-in-law for their special day. She was a talented cook and baker, making famous birthday cakes for her family and dear friends. Rosie will be remembered as “the sweetest woman you will ever meet”.
Rosie is survived by her eight loving children: Thomas (Brenda) Griffith, Jr., Michael (Susan) Griffith, Ronald (Rhonda) Griffin, Joseph (Nicole) Griffith, Robert Griffith, Angel (Charley) Himmel, Sr., John Griffith and Jason Griffith. She will be lovingly missed by her three sisters: Georgia Lee Keefer, Maggie Arnold, Alma Mae Grove and her two brothers: David Wayne and Mark Allen Dixon. She will forever be remembered by her 22 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
In addition to her husband late parents, Rosie was predeceased by three brothers: Bobby Coy Dixon,
Billy Roy Dixon and Andy Dale Dixon.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Harkins Funeral Home, Inc., 600 Main Street, Delta, PA. A funeral service will begin promptly at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with
Pastor Rob Johnson of Pleasant Home Regular Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow the funeral at Pleasant Home Regular Baptist Church Cemetery, 20 Salisbury Road, Airville, PA.
