Obituary for Ruby Leona Waltermyer

RUBY LEONA WALTERMYER, 89 of Dallastown, PA passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 22, 2019 in her home with her loving sons at her side. She was the beloved wife of the late John Robert Waltermyer who died on October 2, 1997.

On January 19, 1930 in the middle of a Harford County, MD blizzard, the late Mary Emma (Blevins) Comer, the dear wife of the late Charles Guy Comer gave birth to triplets: Ralph, Ruby and Ruth. Charles kept them warm by the fire until the next day when the doctor was finally able to get to the home. Ruby was one of eleven children born to this union and the last child to pass.

Ruby was a talented seamstress, having worked for various sewing factories located in Stewartstown, Fawn Grove, Jacobus and Adamsville, PA, retiring when her late husband did in the mid 1990’s. They both then worked for several years at the Cr’s Friendly Market in Stewartstown. She enjoyed playing cards, was an avid Baltimore Oriole fan and loved to listen to bluegrass/gospel music. Ruby was strong in her Christian faith and was a charter member of Tabernacle Regular Baptist Church in Collinsville, PA. She loved to sing the old hymns and share her faith with her cherished family. Many will remember Ruby as a sweet lady with a great sense of humor and contagious smile.

Michal Ann Boyd, her husband, Byron and their children: Ethan, Lydia, Naomi and Esther of New Park, PA
Heidi Lynn Taylor, her husband, David and their children: Matthew and his fiance, Kaitlyn, Mark and his
fiance, Jasmine, Luke and John David of Felton, PA
Bradley Joseph Waltermyer, his wife, Kristen and their children: Natalie and John Bailey of Airville, PA

A great-great grandson, Mark (MJ) Taylor

She was preceded in death by her siblings: Harry, Joseph, Cleve, Wave, Carl, twins: Virginia and George, Jack and triplet siblings: Ralph and Ruth.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 27th, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, PA

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 28th, at 11 a.m. in Centre Presbyterian Church, 83 New Park Road, New Park, PA with interment in the adjoining church cemetery that her father-in-law had donated a portion of the land for the church to use as a graveyard.

Pastor John Waltermyer and Elders Robert Mundis and Rob Lins will officiate.
