Obituary for Sharen Doris Favre (Hitchens)

Sharen Doris Favre, age 78 years of Parkville, MD, died at 2:40 pm on Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at the University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center in Towson, MD. She was the former wife of Andre Maurice Favre of Pylesville, and though they divorced in 1986, they remained good friends who cared for each other.

Born on January 17, 1943, in Baltimore County, MD, she was a daughter of the late Ernest Linwood and Mary Doris (Christy) Hitchens, Jr. She graduated from Towson High School in 1960 and the then Villa Julie College (now Stevenson University) in 1962. She spent her career in the insurance industry until 2007, when she moved to Whitney, Bailey, Cox & Magnani, LLC, a civil engineering firm working as an administrative assistant until 2010. Until her retirement, Ms. Favre worked as a one-on-one aid in the Baltimore County Public Schools.
Ms. Favre appreciated the honesty of the children and welcomed opportunities for conversations with them. With a strong faith in God, family, and country, and always happy and content to be with her family, she assisted her daughters in raising their own families during her retirement.
An avid gardener with a proven green thumb, Ms. Favre was said to be able to grow a stick. She also enjoyed a lifetime of companionship with dogs and cats, and in her youth, horses. In recent years, she maintained a fishpond at her residence to which neighbors would often visit. Having overcome difficulties in her life, Ms. Favre was generous in extending forgiveness and, with God’s help, also used the strength and courage she had developed to improve her relationships.
Known for crazy hats and thoughtful gifts, she loved her family above all and faced her illness with the courage for which she was known.

In addition to her former husband, she is survived by

Anne-Marlyse Wood of Towson, MD
