Obituary for Thelma Marie Laird

THELMA MARIE LAIRD, 72 of Street, MD, died on Saturday, December 26, 2020 in her home. She was the beloved wife of Samuel C. “Billy” Laird who passed away on September 5, 1997.

Born on January 20, 1948 in Havre de Grace, MD, she was one of eight children born to the late John Arthur Cooper and Olive Marie (Cooper) Cooper and graduated from Bel Air High School. She had worked for 42 years at Aberdeen Proving Ground as a facility manager.

Thelma was strong in her Christian faith, family oriented and although did not have children of her own, she welcomed many family members into her home to stay as long as they wanted to. She was an animal lover and had deeply missed her pets: Boo and Radar.

She was preceded in death by her brother, John Arthur Cooper, Jr.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, December 31, 2020 in Emory Cemetery, 911 Cherry Hill Road, Street, MD beginning at 2:30 p.m with Reverend Richard Weih of Oak Grove Baptist Church will officiate. Please gather at the grave wearing masks and remembering social distanting.
