Obituary for Verneal K. Cooley

VERNEAL K. COOLEY 96 of Darlington, MD died on Sunday, March 21, 2021 in her home. Born on January 5, 1925 in Wellington, TX, she was one of three children of the late Leslie A Kincaid and Jewel King Kincaid. She attended school in Texas and moved to MD in 1941. Verneal worked for the former C&P Telephone Company as a service representative in the business office from 1950 to 1960.

Verneal had many interests, she was an avid reader, painter, and quilter. She created for each of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren a personalized handmade quilt. Her greatest enjoyment was the time spent with each member of her family. Verneal lived in Darlington, MD for over 60 years and was an active member of Grace Episcopal Church and a baker for the annual Apple Festival winning a Blue ribbon in the apple pie contest. She was loved and admired by all who knew her and will be greatly missed by the community.

Verneal is preceded in death by her husband, Charles M. Cooley; at the time of his death, they had shared 54 years of marriage.

Andrew Gibson of Spring Grove, PA and Kayla Williams of Dallas, TX

Six great grandchildren and loving nieces and nephews

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, LaDean Moore, a brother, Leslie A. Kincaid and a grandson, John Gibson.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 17th at 11 a.m. at Grandview Christian Church, 2022 Fallston Rd., Fallston, MD 21047 with Brian Kelly and Glenn McCurry co-officiating.
