Obituary for Viola Mae Boothe

Viola Mae Boothe, 88, of Delta, PA died at home early Monday morning after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Viola was born on December 15, 1933 to her late parents, John Crookshank and Lena (Howell) Crookshank in Marfrance, WV. Viola moved to Aberdeen, MD to care for an ill family member when she was 16. While there she met her beloved husband, the late Williard Monroe Boothe. They shared 38 years of marriage until his death in March of 1991.

Viola worked for many years at the Stewartstown Sewing Factory and then at York Hospital in central sterilization. After retiring, Viola spent her time enjoying the company of her beloved family. She shared special time with friends at the Red Lion Senior Center, eventually working there until 2020. She was a woman strong in her faith and will. Viola loved the Lord and worshiped Him faithfully in song with her beautiful voice. In her early years, she sang with a local gospel music group every Sunday morning. She was a faithful member of Spry Church in York, PA.

Viola is survived by her children; Troy (Linda) Boothe, Roy (Vicki) Boothe and David (Rosemary) Boothe, all of Delta, PA, her grandchildren; Ryan Boothe of Ashland, VA, Jeremy (Angelina) Boothe of Glen Rock, PA, Tammy McClain and fiancé’ Trevor Maben of Lewistown, PA, Roy Boothe, Jr, Rick Boothe of Delta, PA, April Thomas of Delta, PA, John (Amanda) Thomas of Craley, PA, and Renee (Zach) Kulesza of Dallastown, PA. She is also survived by a host of great grandchildren; Dalton Boothe and fiancé’ Shelbie Buie, Lane Boothe, Brandon Boothe, Emily Boothe, Taylor Boothe, Connor Boothe, Callen Boothe, Ava Thomas, Riley Boothe, Jade Kulesza, Ensley Thomas, Crystal Thomas, Ivy Thomas and one great-great grandchild, Raylynn Boothe. In addition, she is survived by her sisters, Mary Marsicano or NY and Susan (Sonny) Brammer of WV, sisters-in-law, Sadie of IA, Nonah Crookshank of TN, Reba Boothe of Fawn Grove and her brother-in-law Jim Ford of WV.

In addition to her parents and husband, Viola was predeceased by daughters; Mary Jane Boothe and Nancy McClain, a grandson, Tommy McClain, her siblings; Helen (Ed) Sheaves, Mabel (Eddie) Dalton, Albert “Cecil” (Audrey) Crookshank, Raymond Crookshank, Robert Crookshank, Roy (Connie) Crookshank, Nellie Ford and brother-in-law, Mike Marsicano.
