Obituary for Wanda A. Deliz

WANDA A. DELIZ, 92, of Airville, PA, passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2020. She was the beloved wife of the late Francis A. Deliz who died on June 5, 2008.

Born on November 3, 1927 in Airville, PA, she was one of four children born to the late Herbert A. and Thelma (Knopp) Colvin and spent most of her life in Airville except when her late husband was stationed in Alabama and on the west coast in Seattle, WA during his military service. Wanda was a graduate of the former Lower Chanceford School and of Temple University School of Dental Hygiene. A dedicated employee, she took great pride in her work as a dental hygienist for Isett & Chronister of Red Lion where she cared for patients for over 30 years. Wanda loved her job so much that she finally retired at the age of 81 in 2008. A loving great grandmother, she enjoyed family times, gardening, created beautiful cross stitch gifts and working on word searches. Each Christmas, she would create handmade gifts/ornaments for each family member from the age of birth until 18.

A lifetime member of Pine Grove Presbyterian Church, she was involved in many activities of the congregation and worked numerous annual turkey dinners. Wanda was a member of the Southern York County Farm Women’s Group and was a familiar face at the Delta Senior Center.

Barbara Deliz Anderson and her husband, Steve of Raleigh, NC
David Deliz and his wife, Patricia of York, PA
Michelle Deliz Pickens and her husband, Michael of Delta, PA

A sister, Faune Rothermel of Dallastown, PA

Three grandchildren-
Nathan, Maria and Sarah

Three great grandchildren-
Johnny, Jolene and Brittany

Five great-great grandchildren-
Zane, Haley, Kayleen, Lucy and Collin

Wanda was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Juanita A. Deliz, and siblings-Dale and Roscoe Colvin.

Services will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, PA with a viewing from 5 – 6 p.m. followed immediately with the funeral service. Reverend James B. Shuler of Pine Grove Presbyterian Church will officiate.

Interment services will be private for the family.
