Alice B. "Mother" Rice, age 108 years of Darlington, Maryland was born on October 30, 1901 in Peach Bottom Township, Pennsylvania and died on Thursday, December 24, 2009 at Harford Memorial Hospital in Havre de Grace, Maryland.

Alice received her Christian training at Trinity A.M.E. Zion Church in Delta, Pennsylvania where she served on various committees through her many years of service and was known as the "Mother" of the church.

She was united in holy matrimony to the late Gilpin Rice on January 10, 1920 and from their union, six children were born. She was a kind, loving person who was always willing to lend a hand. She will be sincerely missed by everyone who knew her.

Winston Buchanan, Cynthia Handy, Larry Rice, Linda Bryant, Rhonda Jo Wintermyers, Alice Rice, Anthony Rice, Joyce Rice, James Rice and Jeff rice.

Several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and adopted family and friends.

She was preceded in death by-

Four children-Lucille Rice, William Rice, Louis Rice and Stewart Rice, Sr.

Three sisters-Elizabeth Jones, Ida Smothers and Margarite Williams.

Services will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at Trinity A.M.E. Zion Church, 1006 Main Street, Delta, Pennsylvania with a visitation from 10 to 11 AM and funeral services at 11 AM.

Her pastor, Reverend Samuel Means will officiate.

Interment will be in Trinity A.M.E. Zion Cemetery, Delta.
