Alvin H. Dowe was the husband of the late Muriel D. (Griffin) Dowe.
Mr. Dowe was the son of the late Harry Eldred and Hyla (McCann) Dowe. He was a United States Army veteran of WWII. He had worked for Martin Marietta in Baltimore, Maryland for twenty-three years; for Head Ski equipment manufacturer in Baltimore, Maryland before its relocation; later retiring after ten years as an inspector for General Electric Company, also in Baltimore, Maryland.
He was an avid model railroad enthusiast and had built some of his own train cars. He loved sailboats and built a twenty-eight foot sailboat in the basement of his home in 1962. He thoroughly enjoyed all types of aviation and built an all-wood two-seat airplane that is still in use. He was a master carpenter having remodeled his own home and crafting the kitchen cabinetry.
He was a member of the Evangelical Methodist Church.
He is survived by:
A daughter-Susan C. Vaughan of Forest Hill, Maryland
A son-Allan D. Dowe of Forest Hill, Maryland
Five grandchildren-Christine L. Snow of Loganville, Pennsylvania; James E. Vaughan, Jr. of Delta, Pennsylvania; Joseph H. Vaughan of Forest Hill, Maryland; John L. Vaughan of Jarrettsville, Maryland; Samantha N. Dowe of Forest Hill, Maryland.
