ARTHUR H. JOHNSON, SR., age 81 years, of Bel Air, Maryland, died on Thursday, September 2, 2010 at Bel Air Health & Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of Elizabeth Lou (Matzke) Johnson with whom he had shared 56 years of marriage.
Born on May 12, 1929 in Coleraine, Minnesota, he was a son of the late George Z. and Ellen S. (Anderburg) Johnson. Mr. Johnson worked for Peterson's Furniture, Hardware and Funeral Home in Coleraine, Minnesota from the age of 15; in 1944 until 1975, taking time away to serve his country in Korea with the United States Army from May 1951 to March 1953. For his service, he was awarded the Korea Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars and the Army Occupational Medal (Japan.) In 1981, Mr. Johnson along with his wife, worked for the Stuart Corporation in St. Paul, Minnesota as managers of several senior housing facilities until 1992 when they retired and moved to Texas.
While living in Minnesota, he was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #5290 in Bovey, Minnesota, very active in the Coleraine United Methodist Church, member of Lodge #271 F. & A.M. in Coleraine, the Scottish Rite and the Shrine.
Mr. Johnson and his wife moved to a retirement village in Bel Air, Maryland in 2003. He had become an active member of Dublin United Methodist Church where his son, Jim is pastor.

David G. Johnson and his wife, Teal of Glenco, Minnesota
Pastor James K. Johnson and his wife, Debbie of Street, Maryland
Seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren
A brother, Einard Johnson of Remer, Minnesota
