LIFE STORY PREPARED BY HIS LOVING FAMILY: Bert Edgar Turnmire, age 78, of Darlington, passed away on October 16, 2022. Born in Havre de Grace in 1943, Bert graduated from Lansing High School in North Carolina in 1965. Shortly after graduation, Bert served 2 years in the Armed Forces to include an overseas tour in Korea. For years Bert was very active in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts where both of his sons achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He drove a dump truck for Maryland Paving for 40 years and retired in 2015. In his spare time, he loved to spend time with family, taking train rides at Strasburg Railroad, driving down Blue Ridge Parkway and he could often be found simply sitting outside on a swing watching nature, or as Bert would say, "Just sittin' here spittin' and a grinnin' I am, I am".

Bert is survived by his two sons Wayne and Russell; his two daughters-in-law Cassey and Beth; and his 4 grandchildren Sarah, Matthew, Alex, and Hayden. He is preceded in death by his stepfather Albert, his mother Elizabeth, and his former spouse Della.

Two viewings will be held at Harkins Funeral Home, Inc., 600 Main Street, Delta, PA on October 27 and again on October 28, 2022 from 5-7 PM. Funeral services will take place at Harkins Funeral Home in Delta, PA on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at 1:30 PM with Pastor Jimmy Testerman officiating. Bert will be laid to rest immediately following the funeral service in Darlington Cemetery, Darlington, MD.
