BETTY E. SWIFT, age 67 years, of Cardiff, Maryland died on Monday, October 13, 2008 at 8:24 AM at Hart Heritage Estate in Street, Maryland..

Betty was born on Christmas Day in 1940; she was a daughter of the late Walter M. and Blanche (Hunsburger) Swift. Betty graduated from North Harford High School in 1959 and had lived in Cardiff since the early 1960's. She had worked as a fabric spreader at the former Whiteford Sewing Factory and York Bias Sewing Company. She later worked as a custodian at North Harford Middle School, retiring in 2003.

Betty was a charter member of the Fawn Grove Church of the Nazarene that was formed in 1965 in the little Quaker Church building in Fawn Grove, Pennsylvania. She was very active in the construction of the three sections of the building that comprise the current church complex located just south of the Mason-Dixon Line in Pylesville, Maryland (less than a mile from its original location.) She served on the board of directors and was active in the missions serving as Missionary Treasurer.

Betty loved to fish and camp and was a cherished friend.

She is survived by her:

Devoted cousin of whom she lived with for over 50 years, Janet A. Swift of Cardiff, Maryland.

Nieces and nephews-

Mildred Bill, Sandra Taylor, Dale Swift, Ricky Swift, Harold Swift, Jr., Edward Swift, Linda Cooper and Daniel Swift.

Numerous loving cousins

She was preceded in death by her siblings-

Harold Swift, Richard Swift, Goldie Swift and Emma Louise Swift.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2008 from 7-9 PM at Fawn Grove Church of the Nazarene, 5330 Fawn Grove Road, Pylesville, MD 21132.

The funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM at the church with her pastor, Reverend Jeff Mason officiating.

Interment will be in Fawn Grove Cemetery, Fawn Grove, Pennsylvania.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church at the above address.
