BRENDA MARIE (SMITH) STOKES, 76 of York, formerly of Airville, PA, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021 in York Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Richard L. Stokes who died in June 2000.

Born in Airville, PA on November 24, 1944, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Willis Smith and Carrie Elizabeth (Burns) Smith and a graduate of the York Vocational Technical School in 1983 with a degree in nursing. She had worked as a L.P.N. in healthcare with over 20 years with Dallastown Medical Associates. Brenda and her late husband enjoyed square dancing with the Stewartstown Promenaders and worshipped together for many years at McKendree United Methodist Church in Airville. She enjoyed embroidery work and bringing comfort to many seniors in the Senior Companion Program with SpiriTrust Lutheran Homes.

She was preceded in death by her grandson, Ryan Thompson and siblings-Joyce Sprenkle, Stephen Smith and Bradley Smith.

Due to COVID 19, services will be held at a future date with inurnment in McKendree Cemetery with her husband, Richard. Harkins Funeral Home has been entrusted with her arrangements.
