C. Robert Johnson, age 73, of Whiteford, MD, died on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at the Senator Bob
Hooper House in Forest Hill, MD. He was the husband of Joyce A. (Drumgoole) Johnson, and they
observed their 46 th wedding anniversary on April 22, 2024.
Bob was born in Harrisburg, PA, a son of the late Vincent A. and Mary P. (Linkous) Johnson. A lifelong
resident of the Delta-Whiteford area, he was a 1969 graduate of Kennard-Dale High School. Following
high school, Bob attended Penn State University and later received his mortuary science degree from
Catonsville Community College. He had begun working for the then John H. Harkins Funeral Home in
Delta, PA, in the mid-1960s and later became a Baltimore City policeman. He returned to the funeral
home after receiving his funeral director's license in 1980. In 1982, Bob left to begin a career with the
Maryland State Police, which he left to manage the former Graceton Store in Whiteford, MD. At the
same time, Bob began working as an investigator with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in
Baltimore. In 2005, he returned to Harkins Funeral Home, Inc., where he later became a partner and
remained a dedicated and valued partner until his death.
Bob enjoyed his two Corvettes, also deer and turkey hunting locally and in West Virginia. His
memberships included Stephenson Lodge #135, A.F.& A.M., Darlington, MD, Sons of the American
Legion, Post #182, Whiteford, MD, where he was a past commander, and the Delta-Peach Bottom Fish
and Game, Delta, PA.
In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by:
One brother: John V. Johnson and his wife, Sandra of Fawn Grove, PA
Numerous nieces and nephews
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Eric A. Johnson on May 12, 2008.
A visitation will be held on Friday, October 11 from 6 to 9 pm at the Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main
Street, Delta, PA.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, October 12 beginning at 11 am.
Pastor Mark A. Rudd of Trinity Free Will Baptist Church, Darlington, MD will officiate.
Interment will be in Fawn Grove Cemetery.
