CAROL JEAN MUMPOWER, age 53 years of Whiteford, Maryland died at her home at 10:20 a.m. on Wednesday, January 21, 2009. She was the wife of Matthew L. Mumpower. They observed their 15th wedding anniversary on April 17, 2008.

Carol was born in Havre de Grace, MD on March 15, 1955 a daughter of Eva (Hensley) Hooper of Bel Air, Maryland and the late Edward Hooper. She was an active member of the Whiteford Volunteer Fire Company since 2001, where she was involved the EMS and administration. For the past six consecutive years she served as secretary of the fire company. Carol was a member of the First Baptist Church in Delta, Pennsylvania. She enjoyed the outdoors, camping and her grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by:

One son: Eric Classon and his wife Tonya of Stewartstown, Pennsylvania

One daughter: Erin Classon of Street, Maryland

One sister: Shirley Jones of Bel Air

Five grandchildren: Alexis and Thomas Classon, Kaylin Shenk and Logan and Kaese Asbury.

A viewing will be held on Friday, January 23rd from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta with a prayer service to be held at 7:30 p.m.

Pastor John Davis will officiate.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 25 at 2:00 p.m. at the Whiteford Volunteer Fire Company, 1407 Pylesville Road, Whiteford, Maryland.

Reverend Harold Hubble will officiate.
