CAROLYN JEAN SMITH, age 64 years, died in her home in Darlington, Maryland on Wednesday, July 30, 2008. Born on November 14, 1943 in Forest Hill, Maryland, Mrs. Smith was the daughter of the late Elijah D. and Lula Mae (Edwards) Petty.

Mrs. Smith had worked at the Perry Point Veterans Administration Hospital before devoting herself full time to raising a family and assisting with the family business. She was a loyal wife, mother, sister and friend, enjoying cooking, reading, and especially spending time with family at her summer home in W. Ocean City, Maryland.

She is survived by:

Her husband of forty-five years, William H. Smith, Jr.

Her three children-

Kimberly Malat and her husband, Andy of Port Deposit, Maryland

William H. Smith, III and his wife, Paula of Darlington, Maryland

Angela Boin and her husband, Paul of Fawn Grove, Pennsylvania

Six beloved grandchildren-

William H. Smith, IV; Anna Smith and Emily Smith of Darlington, Maryland

Aaron Boin, Samuel Boin and Noah Boin of Fawn Grove, Pennsylvania

Five brothers-

Thomas Petty of Street; Maryland

Robert Petty of Churchville, Maryland

John Petty, Harold Petty and Pete Petty, all of Darlington, Maryland

Two sisters-

Virginia Catron of Hoquiam, Washington

Kathleen Akin of Delta, Pennsylvania

Numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a sister, Opal Ross on January 18, 2007.

Services will be held Friday, August 1, 2008 at Calvary Chapel of Delta, 5911 Delta Road, Delta, Pennsylvania with the church minister, Pastor Doug McClean officiating.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 - 10:00 AM with the funeral service beginning at 10:00 AM.

Internment will be in Darlington Cemetery, Darlington, Maryland.
