CHARLES AUSTIN HEDRICK, 69 of Delta, PA died suddenly in his home on Friday morning, July 7, 2023. Married on December 27, 1981, he was the beloved husband for nearly 42 years of Marsha Yvonne (Grubb) Hedrick. Marsha commented that she will miss everything about Charles, especially his smile, the twinkle of his green eyes and his kind heart.
Born on June 22, 1954 at home in Delta, PA, he was one of ten children born to the late Cecil Everett Hedrick and Lorena (Baldwin) Hedrick and a graduate of the Red Lion Area High School. Charles proudly served his country in the United States Navy as an Aviation Support Equipment Airman for four years, honorably discharged on September 13, 1982. Charles worked for the Teamsters Local #776 of Harrisburg, PA driving as a CDL truck driver first along the east coast and then for the local area deliveries.
Charles was an avid NASCAR fan, hardly missing watching a race, as well as enjoying the outdoors camping and fishing. Strong in his Christian faith, he was a member of Higher Ground Worship Center of Darlington, MD and loved his Lord. He and his wife enjoyed worshipping at the church camp meeting revivals. A family man, he will be missed.
Family members left to mourn the loss;
Four children – Charlie Hedrick, Rebecca Hedrick Bare, Daniel Hedrick and Alisha Hedrick.
Eight siblings – Marcelene Douglas, Wanda Golden, Curtis Hedrick, Verna Price, Dawn Snell, Mack Hedrick, Joann Spurlock and Fern Kozilski. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Hedrick.
Ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Services will be held at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, PA with a viewing on Thursday, July 13th from 6 – 8 p.m. with the funeral service on Friday at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Bel Air Memorial Gardens with military honors presented by the US Naval Honor Guard. Pastor Charles Levering of the Northeast Church of God will officiate.
Interment with military honors presented by the US Naval Honor Guard will follow immediately after the service.
