CHARLES D. SCHELL, age 81 years of York, PA died on Monday, April 11, 2011 at 10:45 p.m. at the Pleasant Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation Center where he had resided for the past five years. He was the husband of Virginia L. (Roehm) Schell who died on December 3, 2000.

Mr. Schell was born in Saginaw, PA on November 15, 1929, one of eighteen children of the late Louis and Florence (Beshore) Schell. He enlisted in the U.S. Merchant Marines and later in the U.S. Navy, in which he served from 1946 - 1952.

A commercial roofer, Mr. Schell retired from Raintree Roofing in 1985

Mr. Schell was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed fishing and hunting.

He is survived by:

Cynthia V. and Alejandro Gomez of Muncy, PA

Christine Goldsmith of Pensacola, FL

Etta Stump of Red Lion

Gail Stump of Dallastown

One brother: Gary Schell of Erie, PA

Also survived by eight grandchildren.
