CHARLES THOMAS STEINER, age 86 years, of Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey, formerly of Cardiff, Maryland, died on Friday, January 4, 2008 at Mainland Manor in Pleasantville, New Jersey. He was the husband of the late Romaine E. (Delp) Steiner who died on March 17, 1997.
Mr. Steiner was born on January 28, 1921 in Baltimore, Maryland; he was the son of the late Howard Sumner and Florence Mae (Miller) Steiner. While living in Harford County, he worked as a supervisor at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds for twelve years, retiring in 1984. He was a member and Past Master of the Esdraleon Lodge #176 AF&AM of Cardiff, the American Legion Post #182 in Whiteford, Maryland and the John S. Murphy VFW #7130 in Delta, Pennsylvania.
He moved to Florida and then to New Jersey six years ago. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and golf. He had maintained his membership with Slate Ridge Presbyterian Church in Delta, Pennsylvania during his changes of residence.
He is survived by:
A son, Rodney Steve Steiner of Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey
Two grandsons-
Matt Steiner and Todd Steiner
Two great grandchildren
A brother, Clayton Steiner and his wife, Betty of Bel Air, Maryland.
Loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at 11 AM at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, Pennsylvania with Reverend Carletta R. Curley of Slate Ridge Presbyterian Church officiating.
Interment will be in Slate Ridge Cemetery, Delta, Pennsylvania.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society of your local chapter.
