CLARENCE VERNON STEWART, 80 years, died on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 in his home in Delta, Pennsylvania. He was the husband of Mary "Betty" (Hushon) Stewart with whom he had shared 56 years of marriage.

A lifetime resident of Delta, he was born on April 26, 1931 in Peach Bottom Township and was a son of the late Harvey and Myrtle (Krick) Stewart. Mr. Stewart had retired in 1985 with 29 years of service as a teacher for the Harford County Public Schools.

Mr. Stewart was a member of Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church of Delta, Pennsylvania, the Retired Teachers Association of Harford County and the West Chester Alumni Association. He was a dancer with the Starlighter Square Dancers of Bel Air, Maryland and the Syncopation Ballroom Dance Club in Emigsville, Pennsylvania.

Mr. Stewart was a talented craftsman and was known to have repaired slate roofs all over the community.

Michael Vernon Stewart and his wife, Cheryl of Waterford, Pennsylvania

Mary Ann Bellfy and her husband, Michael of Williamsport, Pennsylvania

John Robert Stewart and his wife, Rebecca of Delta, Pennsylvania

Barbara Jean Schleicher and her husband, John of New Freedom, Pennsylvania

Nine grandchildren and a great grandchild.

Many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his siblings: Ralph Stewart, Edith Ruff and Harvey Stewart, Jr.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, May 8, 2011 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, Pennsylvania with Rosary and prayers at 8:30 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, the 9th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Parish, 1021 St. Mary's Road, Pylesville, Maryland 21132.

Parish Priest, Reverend A. Henry Kunkel, III will be the celebrant. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
