Daniel James Wasmer, 57, of Delta, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, June 29, 2026.
Born on March 27, 1969, in Baltimore, Maryland, Daniel was the son of the late Carl James Wasmer and Betty Regina Wasmer (née Whisman).
Above all else, Dan's greatest accomplishment in life was the family he loved so deeply. He shared a remarkable marriage with his best friend and soulmate, Mary Beth Wasmer (née Peach). Anyone who spent even a few moments around them could see the genuine love, laughter, and partnership they shared. Together they built a life centered around family, faith, and making memories that will continue to bring smiles for years to come.
He was a devoted father to Connor Daniel Wasmer and Bailey Mackenzie Wasmer, both of whom he loved beyond measure and was incredibly proud to call his children.
Dan is also survived by his siblings, Randy Wasmer, Rodney Wasmer, Sean Wasmer, and Karen Wells; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss his steady presence and unmistakable sense of humor. He was preceded in death by his sister, Pam Spleidt.
Dan dedicated his professional career to protecting others as a Federal Law Enforcement Officer. Throughout his distinguished career, he also served as an Armorer, Range Master, and Certified Firearms Instructor, mentoring countless officers while earning the respect of those who worked alongside him. His commitment to excellence, professionalism, and service never wavered, and he took tremendous pride in the work he performed.
Away from work, Dan found happiness in the outdoors. Whether he was hunting, fishing, camping, or preparing a great meal for family and friends, he appreciated life's simple pleasures. He had a lifelong fascination with American Civil War history and especially enjoyed visiting Gettysburg, where history seemed to come alive for him. He also had an adventurous curiosity about the unexplained, enjoying paranormal investigations, cryptids, and, of course, the possibility that Bigfoot might still be out there. Those who knew him well also knew that the number seven always seemed to hold a special place in his heart.
Dan possessed a wonderfully dry sense of humor. He never needed to be the loudest person in the room to make people laugh. His quick wit, perfectly timed one-liners, and ability to find humor in everyday moments became one of the many qualities those closest to him will cherish forever.
Approximately ten years ago, Dan embraced the Catholic faith, a decision that became an important part of his life. As a faithful member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Pylesville, Maryland, he found peace, purpose, and a welcoming church family. His faith quietly guided the way he lived and cared for those around him.
Dan and his family also shared a deep compassion for animals and were dedicated supporters of animal rescue efforts, believing every animal deserved a loving home and a second chance.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Dan's life on Friday, July 3, 2026, during visitation from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. and again from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Wagner-Elfner & Harkins Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. 600 Main Street, Delta, Pennsylvania, 17314
A Memorial Mass celebrating Dan's life will be announced at a later date and celebrated at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Pylesville, Maryland.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made in Dan's memory to the Humane Society of Harford County or to St. Mary of the Assumption Church, honoring two causes that reflected his compassion, generosity, and enduring faith.
Although his earthly journey has ended far too soon, Dan's legacy of faith, service, love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to his family will continue to live on in everyone fortunate enough to have known him. His stories will continue to be told around campfires, family dinner tables, and perhaps even during conversations about Gettysburg, the unexplained, and whether Bigfoot is really still out there.
