Dennis Allen Overbay, 69, passed away on April 24, 2026. Born in Havre de Grace, Maryland, to the late Delbert C. Overbay and Maxine J. Overbay (Barker), Dennis lived a life marked by loyalty, generosity, and deep love for his family and friends.
Dennis was married to his beloved wife, Lisa Overbay (Prell), for 12 years before her passing in 2023, though their bond and companionship extended over more than a quarter of a century. Together, they raised two children, who were the center of their lives.
Dennis dedicated more than 40 years of service to Aberdeen Proving Ground, where he was still actively working as the Contracts Branch Chief for DPW at the time of his passing. He genuinely enjoyed his work, the people he worked with, and the purpose it gave him. His long career reflected his commitment, dependability, and strong work ethic.
Outside of work, Dennis loved hunting, fishing, golfing, and playing cards. He looked forward to annual fishing trips and big hunting trips, and he brought his competitive spirit to everything he did. Whether it was golf, cards, or a board game at the kitchen table, Dennis played to win. Those who knew him best will smile remembering that he was a great friend, a great father, and, by his family’s loving admission, a very sore loser.
Above all, Dennis will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and selflessness. He was always willing to help others and had a way of making people feel cared for. It often seemed that everywhere Dennis went, he knew someone. His warmth, humor, and loving nature left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
He is survived by his daughter, Amber Hull, and her husband, Jeremy Hull; his son, Bradley Adams, and his wife, Kathleen Adams; and his beloved grandchildren, Nathaniel Adams and Annabelle Adams. In the years following Lisa’s passing, Dennis shared a loving companionship with Kimberly Trainer. They enjoyed traveling, spending time with family, and sharing life together. Her presence brought comfort, happiness, and companionship to Dennis in his later years.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Wagner-Elfner & Harkins Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc, 600 Main Street, Delta, PA 17314. An additional viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with funeral services beginning at 11:00 a.m.
Dennis’s life was a testament to the value of hard work, friendship, family, and showing up for the people he loved. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege to know him. Life- it’s a beautiful thing
