DEREK MICHAEL JOSENHANS, Abingdon, MD passed away unexpectedly in his home on Tuesday, February 4, 2025. Born on March 15, 2018 in Baltimore County, MD, he was the son of Shelby Lynn Gibson and John Watson Josenhans.

For a nonverbal child that didn't say much, Derek said a lot with his sparkling eyes & infectious laugh. His presence lit up the room & his spirit brought warmth & joy to all who met him. Derek was in first grade & went to school at Forest Hill Elementary & he lives on through his teachers which was his second family. Derek enjoyed swimming (we are convinced he was part fish), playing with matchbox cars with dad, playing tag with his sister Madelynn, & cuddling with his mom. Derek has always been strong since the day he was born 6 weeks premature with a 38 day NICU stay, he surpassed all odds and became the most resilient child you'd ever meet. Though his time with us was cut short, the love & happiness he brought will forever be cherished.

& many other family members who will miss him dearly. We take solace knowing that he is now in a place of peace, free from pain & full of external love.
