DOYLE GAMBLE, age 88 years, died on Monday, August 27, 2012 in his home in Pylesville, MD. He was the husband of Theresa M. Gamble who passed away in 1992.
Born on July 17, 1924 in Monterey, TN, he was a son of the late William Ermon and Frona Bell (Holbert) Gamble. Mr. Gamble was a WWII Veteran serving with the United States Coast Guard, honorably discharged in June 1945. During his service, he received the Merchant Marine Emblem, Atlantic War Zone Bar, Mediterranean-Middle East War Zone Bar, Combat Bar with Stars, Victory Medal, Honorable Service Button and a Presidential Testimonial Letter.
Mr. Gamble had worked as a steel worker for over 39 years with the former Bethlehem Steel of Baltimore, MD. He was a member of the American Legion, was fond of fishing, in addition to working on cars and trucks. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by:
Two daughters-Gail Evans of Grand Junction, CO
Glenda Grubb and her husband, Wilmer of Pylesville, MD
A sister, Mary Erwin of Callahan, FL
Ten grandchildren-Shannon, Jennifer, Patricia, Brian, Melonie, Michelle, Kenny, Danny, Elizabeth and Patrick.
Sixteen great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Gamble.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, PA. Reverend Melissa McDade of the Norrisville Methodist Charge will officiate.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 to 11 a.m.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Pylesville, MD.
