E. RUTH BROWN, age 78 years, of Whiteford, Maryland, died on Sunday, October 17, 2010 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Maryland. She was the wife of Newman Luther Brown who died in 1976.

Born on March 2, 1932 in Brushy Mountain, West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Calvin and Ressie (Cutlip) Blake. She had worked as a telephone operator for the former C&P Telephone Company in Bel Air.

She is survived by:

Janie Brown of Whiteford, Maryland

Newman Luther Brown, Jr. of Fawn Grove, Pennsylvania

Thomas Brown of Darlington, Maryland

Emily G. Brown of Woodford, Virginia

Robert Brown of Whiteford, Maryland

Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren

A brother, Charles Blake of Lancaster, Pennsylvania

A sister, Susie Hipley of Baltimore, Maryland.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, Pennsylvania.

Pastor Doug McClean of Calvary Chapel of Delta will officiate.

Interment will be in Slate Ridge Cemetery, Delta.

A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Her sons and grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
