EDITH WILEY GEHR, age 99, of Tallahassee, Florida, (formerly of Delta, Pennsylvania) passed away on September 10, 2009 at the Woodmont Senior Living Facility, Tallahassee. Born on August 24, 1910, she was the youngest daughter of the late Joseph E. and Ella Malone Wiley.
Edith attended the former Delta High School and graduated from Thompson Business College, was employed by the former Philadelphia Electric Company, (now Exelon), where she retired from in 1973. While living in Delta, she was an active member of the Penn Mary Chapter #72 Order of the Eastern Star Castle Finn and Daughters of the American Revolution.
Edith and Alonzo �Lon� Gehr moved to Tallahassee in 1990 to be close to their only grandson, Danny who was then a junior at North Florida Christian School. In 2001, they became guests of St. Augustine Plantation Assisted Living Facility where she remained after the death of her husband in 2003 until recently when she moved to Woodmont Senior Living Facility.
She is survived by her only grandson, Daniel Eugene �Danny� Dunaway, his wife Annecia, great grandson, Thomas Daniel �Tommy� Dunaway of Tallahassee and son-in-law, Tom Dunaway and his wife, Joyce Dunaway of Crawfordville.
Edith was preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 years, Alonzo Daniel Gehr and 2 daughters-Beverly Ann Gehr and Darlene Gehr Dunaway Pinorsky.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, September 18th at 11 AM at Slateville Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 308 Slateville Road, Delta, Pennsylvania where she and Lon were members for over 70 years. Reverend Henry Wallace Heaps will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Circle Boulevard, Tallahassee, FL 32308.
