EDWARD H. HEIN, age 90 years, of Delta, Pennsylvania died on Sunday, July 30, 2006 at York Hospital in York, Pennsylvania. He was the husband of the late Lillian M. (Smith) Hein who died on July 7, 1995.
Mr. Hein was born on January 25, 1916 in York; a son of the late Edward G. and Ethel (Tracey) Hein. He was a United States Army veteran serving with the 25th Infantry Division in World War II fighting in the Pacific Theater, the Luzon Campaign, and also with the Occupational Forces in Japan.
He had worked a mechanic and welder for Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Harford County for twenty-four years when he retired in 1976. Mr. Hein was an avid hunter and had hunted in many western states. He was a taxidermist for many years after his retirement
He is survived by:
A son-Raymond E. Hein of Dataw, South Carolina
A daughter-Carmen L. (Hein) Humenik of West Chester, Pennsylvania
Two grandsons-
Chet Hein of St. Augustine, Florida
Mark Hein of San Antonio, Texas
Five great grandchildren
Two sisters-
Berneice Mummert and Bernette Herman, both of York
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur G. Hein and Kenneth L. Hein
Funeral services will be on held on Thursday, August 3, 2006 at 11:00 AM at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, Pennsylvania
His nephew, Reverend Don Mummert will officiate.
Visitation with his family will be held at the funeral home on the morning of the service from 10-11 AM.
Interment will be in Mt. Nebo Cemetery, Delta, Pennsylvania with military honors presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.
Pallbearers will be Mike Sturgill, Stanley Heiner, Bill Kilgore, Donald Booker, Chester Ruff, and John Steele.
