EDWIN M. WISE, age 91 years, died on Sunday, June 29, 2008 in his home in Delta. He was the husband of Charlotte E. Wise for 63 years until her death on February 5, 2004.

Mr. Wise was born on June 29, 1917 in Delta; he was a son of the late Morris Abel and Martha L. (Smith) Wise. Mr. Wise, a WWII veteran, entered the Army in November 1943 and served with the 239th AAAC Searchlight Radar Battalion at Harford Connecticut until it was deactivated. He was then stationed at Camp Gruber, Oklahoma where he served with the 1280th Combat Engineers. He served in England, France and Germany before being discharged in 1946 with the rank of Tech 5th Grade. Retiring in 1973, he had worked as a heavy equipment operator for Aberdeen Proving Grounds for over thirty years. Mr. Wise also worked as a barber for thirty years.

Mr. Wise was a member of Bryansville United Methodist Church in Delta; the Delta Senior Center; an avid bowler at Lion Bowl in Red Lion, Pennsylvania; and loved to play pinochle.

He is survived by:

Two daughters-

Phoebe N. Shaw and her husband, Dennis

Edwina (Tykie) McNerney and her husband John, all of Delta, Pennsylvania

Seven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren

A son-in-law, Mark Shaw.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Robin C. Shaw on December 7, 2006; a brother, "Mickey" on June 23, 2008; a grandson, Adam Schreck.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2008 at 11 AM at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, Pennsylvania.

His minister, Pastor Judy Walker will officiate.

Interment will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, York Pennsylvania with military honors presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.

Visitations will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6-8 PM and one hour prior to the funeral service on Thursday from 10-11 AM.
