ELIZABETH ANN MITCHELL, age 39 years of Frederick, MD and formerly of Abingdon died on Thursday, March 5, 2009 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of James B. Mitchell, II. They observed their 13th. wedding anniversary on May 27, 2008.

Beth was born in Baltimore on July 14, 1969 a daughter of Claudia J. Scarborough of Street, MD and the late Larry W. Kirkwood. She was a 1987 graduate of C. Milton Wright High School where she was active in cross country, indoor track and road racing. In her youth, she was active in the mission program of the First Presbyterian Church - Bel Air. For seven years she worked in Guest Services for the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore, Maryland. A sweet and gentle person and a devoted daughter, she cherished time with her sons and enjoyed walks with her dog.

In addition to her husband and mother, Beth is survived by:

Two sons: James B. Mitchell, III

Andrew D. Mitchell, both at home

One sister: Sharon D. Kirkwood of Baltimore

Maternal grandparents: Jean and Otis Scarborough of White Hall

She was preceded in death by her adoptive father, James J. Jones

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2009 at noon at Highland Presbyterian Church, 701 Highland Road, Street, Maryland. Reverend Jack V. Carlson, church pastor will officiate.
