IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Emma Lou
Testerman
November 15, 1950 – April 24, 2023
Obituary prepared by her family - Emma Lou Sexton Testerman, also known as Tootie, 72, of Conowingo, MD, passed away Monday, April 24, 2023. She was born to the late Doughton Porter and Nannie Lee Sexton. A graduate of Bel Air High School, she went on to work for the Department of the Army, retiring from Aberdeen Proving Ground.
Her family and friends will remember her for her deep faith in Jesus Christ, her love of game shows and board games, her famous gravy and biscuits, and most importantly, spending time with those she loved. To say she was compassionate, caring and giving would not scratch the surface of who Emma was and what she embodied. She was an encourager doing everything she could to uplift and help others. Her relationship with Christ began at a young age, and defined how she lived her life. She lived life to the fullest and enjoyed every moment. She loved to travel and enjoyed many trips with her family and friends. After retirement, she and David spent the colder months in Alabama where she made many friends as well. Emma made the most of her time sharing laughter, wisdom and encouragement with those around her every chance she got.
Emma was a charter member of Trinity Free Will Baptist Church, having worshipped and served there for 56 years. She loved her church and everyone who walked through the doors became a life-long friend. Emma enjoyed reading her Bible, going to plays and playing games with anyone, young or old. Her greatest joy; however, was spending time with her family, watching them grow and participate in their various activities. She was the go-to woman for many, had a love for Operation Christmas Child and family reunions. Her greatest strengths were her attention to detail and willingness to help anyone when needed.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, David Testerman; daughter and son-in-law, Melinda and Wayne Campbell of Coffee Springs AL, son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Tara Testerman of Conowingo, MD. Grandchildren: Cody, Emily, Brady, Mason and Griffin and a great grandson, Sam. Brothers: Kyle Sexton (Joyce) of Conway, SC, John Sexton (Evelyn) of Darlington, MD, Richard Sexton (Phyllis) of Darlington, MD, Jeff Sexton (Margie) of Street, MD, many nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 5 siblings: Fred, Harold, Grace Blevins, Bruce and Bob.
Friends and family will be received on Friday, April 28, 2023 form 6-8, with a funeral at 2:30 on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Trinity Free Will Baptist Church, 3411 Cedar Church Road, Darlington, MD 21034. Interment will follow at Darlington Cemetery. Pastor Mark Rudd will officiate.
