Obituary

ESTHER E. KELLY, age 81 years, of Shrewsbury, formerly of Fawn Grove, died on Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at York Hospital. She was the wife of Charles Reed Kelly who passed away on January 6, 2002.

Born in Pylesville, Maryland on July 18, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Milton H. and Ella S. (Burkins) Picker. She had lived in Delta before moving to Fawn Grove where she lived for 31 years. Esther recently moved to the Shrewsbury Lutheran Retirement Village in Shrewsbury, Pennsylvania.

She and her late husband farmed until their retirement. Esther enjoyed growing flowers, traveling and helping others.

Esther was a longtime member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Parish where she was very active in the Catholic Women's Fellowship, Bereavement Committee, Health Care Ministry, Prayer Chain and the Morning Rosary. She was an Adorer, observing an hour of meditation and prayer, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish Adoration Chapel in New Freedom, Pennsylvania.

She is survived by:

Five children-

Jean E. Gingrich and her husband, Richard W. of Conestoga, Pennsylvania

Marilyn L. Griffiths and her husband, Mike and Miriam L. Root and her husband, Brian, both of York, Pennsylvania

Diane J. Klucher of Jacobus, Pennsylvania

Robert C. Kelly of New Park, Pennsylvania

A sister, Ruth Smith and her husband, Harold of Red Lion, Pennsylvania

Six grandchildren-April Riehl, Kevin Klucher, Heather Griffiths, Kara Griffiths, Eric Root and Stacey Root.

A great grandson, Vance Riehl

Numerous loving nieces and nephews.

Visitations will be held on Friday, June 12th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 7:30 PM with recitation of the Rosary at 7:30 PM at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 13th at 10 AM at her home parish, St. Mary of the Assumption, 1021 St. Mary's Road, Pylesville, MD 21132.

Reverend A. Henry A. Kunkel, III will be the celebrant.

Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mary's Building Fund at the above address.
