EVAN THOMAS ATKINS, a lifetime resident of Airville, Pennsylvania, passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2009 at Manor Care Kingston Court in York, Pennsylvania. He was the husband of Zatae (Beetem) Atkins, and they celebrated 60 years of marriage this past June 8th.

Born May 9, 1924 in the Sunnyburn area of Airville, he was 85 years old and a son of the late Robert P. and Elizabeth (Barnett) Atkins. He had worked for 20 years as Secretary/Treasurer of Lower Chanceford Township in York County. He was a member and Past Master of Friendship Lodge #663 F.&A.M. of Fawn Grove, Pennsylvania. In addition, he was a member of the Harrisburg Consistory Scottish Rites and the Scottish Rites of Red Lion, Pennsylvania.

Longtime member of Pine Grove Presbyterian Church of Airville, he had served as an Elder, Trustee, and with the Pine Grove Cemetery Association.

Mr. Atkins enjoyed fishing for flounder at Ocean City, Maryland and deer hunting.

A son, Robert A. Atkins and his wife, Rosalee of Airville

Two granddaughters-

Sabrina Konnick and her husband Jason of Boyertown, Pennsylvania

Stacee Atkins and her companion, Andrew Olajos of Ocean Pines, Maryland

He was preceded in death by his brother, R. Milton Atkins and his sister, Sara A. Poorman.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 20th from 10 to 11 AM at Pine Grove Presbyterian Church, 4263 Delta Road, Airville, where the funeral services will begin at 11AM with interment in the adjoining church cemetery.

His pastor, Reverend James B. Shuler will officiate.
