Life story prepared by her family:

EVELYN REBECCA COX, "Becky" was born on January 16, 1934 in Sparta, NC. Upon graduation, she followed her brother, Gene to MD for work opportunities. She found employment with the former A&P in Bel Air as a cashier.

She was the daughter of the late Washington Floyd Irwin and Vella Phipps Irwin. She was preceded in death by her brothers, George Ed and Gene Irwin. She enjoyed watching hummingbirds at her window after becoming bedridden. She was an avid seamstress, enjoyed keeping a garden and canning. She kept the farm looking neat using her golf cart to keep the hedgerows clean. Locals knew of the strawberry farm that Raymond and Becky kept for many years. Becky passed away in her home on February 23, 2021 at the age of 87.

She was the wife of the late Raymond D. Cox and is survived by:

Diane and her husband, David

Granddaughter, Katie and her husband, James; grandson, Daniel.

Nephews: Phillip and Mark Irwin

Also survived by her long term care giver and friend, Gail Bobbitt.

Visitation with her family will be held on Sunday, February 28, 2021 from 6 to 8 p.m. at William Watters United Methodist Church, 1452 Jarrettsville Road, Jarrettsville, MD 21084. While we appreciate everyone that would like to pay their respects and in keeping with the Covid procedures, please limit your visitation time. The celebration of life service will be held for the immediate family only with the church minister, Pastor Mark Gorman officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church at the above address. Harkins Funeral Home has been entrusted with her arrangements.
