IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Evelyn R.
Brown
June 20, 1923 – December 27, 2014
EVELYN REGINA BROWN, age 91, peacefully entered the Lord's Heavenly Kingdom on Saturday, December 27, 2014 from the Colonial Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in York, PA. She was the wife of the late Stewart E. Brown and at the time of his death in 2008, they had been blessed in holy matrimony for 50 years.
Born on June 20, 1923 in Delta, PA, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Curtis and Julia Agnes (Jones) Miller and a lifelong resident of Peach Bottom Township. Graduating from the former Delta High School in 1941 and the Apex School of Hair in Philadelphia, Evelyn worked as a beautician, followed by working as a laundry supervisor at the former Naval Training Center in Bainbridge, MD. She retired in 1985 from DENTSPLY International in York, PA where she had worked as a mold operator.
Evelyn accepted Jesus Christ at a very early age and was a lifelong devoted disciple of Christ. A committed member of Trinity A.M.E. Zion Church, she faithfully attended Sunday School, Bible Study and loved teaching her Sunday School Class. Evelyn liked to sing with the Chancellor Choir and served on the Missionary and Laity Committees. Evelyn was known to send cards and letters. If she knew you, one could expect to receive a few in your day just to let you know that she was thinking of you or perhaps it was a special day/time of the year for you. She was famous for her delicious apple pies and homemade root beer. In addition to her love of baking, Evelyn enjoyed attending activities at the senior center where she could be in the company of her friends, participate in the daily activities and was an avid bowler well into her golden years. Evelyn was known as a people person with a warm sharing heart and always smiling at everyone. Because of her overwhelming kindness and compassion, she was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Evelyn and the love of her life, Stewart, were blessed to raise three children:
Maxine Elaine Williams; Ronald Maynard Brown and Donald Roy Everett Brown.
She leaves to cherish her memory:
A son, Ronald M. Brown of York
A stepson, Stewart E. Brown, II of Landover, MD
A stepdaughter, Joscelyn Brown of Edgewood, MD
