Obituary

GARVEY R. WILMOTH, age 87 years of Street, Maryland died at the Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air on Sunday, May 10, 2009 He was the husband of Sara Isabelle Wilmoth. They observed their 65th. wedding anniversary on November 25, 2008.

Born in Benham, North Carolina, he was a son of the late William Manley and Vina (Thompson) Wilmoth. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS Ranger during World War II and was a member of the American Legion Post #39, Bel Air and the Aberdeen Memorial Post #10028, V.F.W. He retired from Aberdeen Proving Ground after more than 25 years service as a maintenance mechanic. He was a member of Esdraelon Lodge #176, A.F.&A.M., Cardiff, Maryland where he served as chaplain for 27 years.

Mr. Wilmoth joined the Church of the Ascension in Street in 1950 and was very active in church committees and offices. A nature lover, he enjoyed watching birds, gardening; especially roses, farming and fishing.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by:

Three sons: G. Richard Wilmoth, Jr. and his wife Kornetha

Robert Winfield Wilmoth and his wife Marcia

William Wilson Wilmoth and his wife Mary Louise, all of Street, Maryland

Eight grandchildren: G. Richard Wilmoth, III, Laura M. Delaney, Kenneth A. Wilmoth, Sr., Heather E. Grammer, Jerod M. Wilmoth, Ashley L. Wilmoth, Nathaniel A. Wilmoth and Amanda G. Wilmoth.

Also survived by seven great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 12 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main St. Delta, PA. Masonic Rites by Esdraelon Lodge will be held at 7:30 p.m.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, May 13 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of the Ascension, 3015 Dublin Road, Street, MD.

Reverend Nick McDonald, visiting priest, will be officiating.

Interment with military honors will be in the adjoining cemetery.
