Life story prepared by his loving family: Gary Unfried, age 85, of Delta, Pennsylvania, passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2023. He passed peacefully in his sleep, in his own home as he had wished, and leaves behind his widow, Sandra Unfried, seven children, family, and friends.

Those who knew Gary, knew the passion with which he lived his life, and that he leaves behind a legacy of change and social justice as he devoted his working life to being a fierce advocate for transforming the lives of young people through education. His work not only changed the lives of the at-risk youth of Baltimore City who attended his school while he was principal, but his actions and advocacy sent ripples of change throughout the lives of those student's families, communities, and set in motion change that would support future generations.

While his work in life was ambitious, he enjoyed the simple things in life like working on his farm, fishing, and traveling on trains. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
